A DAD-of-two hanged himself on a garden swing the day after finding out he was at the centre of a police and social services probe, an inquest heard.
The coroner said Gary Wynne, 42, of Ruskin Avenue, Colne, was so worried about a police investigation that he killed himself.
Mr Wynne was found by his wife Angela in the early hours of September 27 last year in the back garden of the family home.
The inquest heard Mr Wynne killed himself following a night of drinking after finding out the police and social services wanted to speak to him and his family.
Mr Wynne was a father-of-two who was married to wife Angela for 11 years.
The inquest heard he worked as a bus driver until the June before his death when he left because of stress.
Mrs Wynne, a former postman, told the hearing her husband had gone out for a drink after finding out about the police investigation and had returned home at about 1am.
She said he then carried on drinking in the garden.
She said: "He was upset and confused. I woke up at about 5am and I saw him in the garden. It was nothing out of the ordinary for me to see him out there because he would lean over the gate for hours on end if he couldn't sleep."
Mrs Wynne said she woke again at about 8am and went outside to find her husband with a rope from one of the garden swings tied around his neck.
A post mortem examination found he had died from hanging.
East Lancashire Coroner Richard Taylor said: "The police investigation significantly distressed Mr Wynne and in the early hours of September 27 he decided to take his own life."
He recorded a verdict that Mr Wynne took his own life.
