After putting up a strong fight going down to UniBond Premier Division promotion chasers Frickley Athletic in the Chairman's Cup quarter-finals, Chorley face a tough league double-header over four days - against Stocksbridge Park Steels and Woodley Sports.

Stocksbridge have improved since the Magpies went to Bracken Moor Lane on December 10 and pulled off a 3-1 win and are three places above Chorley in fifth place with two games in hand.

The Magpies take on Woodley for the first time this season when they go to the Lambeth Stadium on Tuesday and although the Stockport team are a place below them, they also have the advantage of two matches in hand. The race to join the promotion play-offs becomes even more complex by the week, after results like Kendal losing at home to Ossett and Bishop Auckland beating Bridlington.

A fixture switch brings Gresley Rovers, whom Chorley have still to meet twice, to Victory Park on Good Friday March 11, in an evening match kicking off at 7.45pm.

The revenge match against Fleetwood Town has been brought forward to April 14.

Player-manager Teale was hit by a selection problem in Friday's cup match because skipper Jamie Vermiglio was delayed by work commitments and had to go on the bench when he arrived, and stand-in skipper Ian Callaghan was taken ill on the journey. But Teale was pleased at the side's performance against a Frickley outfit chasing promotion to the Conference North.

He said: "We gave as good as we got for much of the game against a very good side. It would have been nice to reach the semi-final, but it wasn't to be.

"The league has always been a priority and we have the chance to boost our home record on Saturday. Stocksbridge is a tough one, so we've got to make sure we do our jobs properly.

"All the members of the squad are available this week - we have no injury problems."

Teale was deciding this week on a new management structure for the Reserves following the resignation for personal reasons of manager Mark Physick. The Reserves have only eight games left in the Lancit Lancashire League this season.
