Regarding the letter by W Southworth, Citizen, February 9. I have lived in Leyland for 25 years or so and Leyland Festival was a lovely day for families and the young and old.
Everyone got involved in different ways, I spent a lot of time planning floats, decorating them for Gateway Mencap, and the excitement and enjoyment were well worth it. And if we won the cup it was great.
What do you and people for Preston and South Ribble feel about bringing back Leyland Festival or a charity day? Let all the charities plan a bit for the charity day, as one big team, backed by the council and MP to advise on red tape.
The money received should be shared between the charities involved.
Start small, grow big, bring the festival spirit back to Leyland.
I think team work would be very good these days with so many charities needing public support. Any more ideas?
