In the letter Selective About Religion in last week's Citizen David Beattie wrote that without religion "we would not have that amazing example of goodness, the parents of Anthony Walker forgiving their son's murderer."
They are indeed good people. But we don't know if they would not be good people anyway, without the influence of religion.
There are good people of all religions and none, and to suggest that without religion there would be no forgiveness in the world is both insulting to non believers and patently absurd.
