BLACKBURN Rovers striker Craig Bellamy is to be questioned by police in connection with an alleged assault on a teenage girl.
The incident, which left a 19-year-old clubber with bruising to her arm and neck, is believed to have occurred in the Number 10 nightclub on Mill Lane, Cardiff, in the early hours of Sunday, February 5.
Rovers had earlier suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Premiership strugglers West Bromwich Albion although Bellamy, who reportedly earns £50,000 a week at Blackburn, didn't play because of injury.
The 26-year-old Welsh international and another man have subsequently been asked to attend a Cardiff police station for questioning.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "We are investigating the alleged assault of a 19-year-old woman at the Number 10 nightclub in Mill Lane.
"Two men have been asked to attend Cardiff Central Police Station to be formally interviewed on a date yet to be decided."
Bellamy's agent Steve Horner refused to comment.
