DESPITE the double shock of successive defeats in what was described as "the weekend from hell", assistant manager Graham Lomax remains confident that Blackburn Hawks can still win the English League.
Blackburn lost 11-4 at home to the Dundee Stars in Saturday's cup match, before losing the top-of-the-table clash 7-4 away at Nottingham the following day.
But with the two league games remaining, Lomax believes the Hawks are still well-placed to claim their first-ever title.
"As far as I'm concerned, Sunday's result doesn't change anything because we would still have to win at home to Nottingham this weekend anyway," he said.
"The Blackburn Arena is a big and intimidating place for teams to come and we're going to make life as tough as possible for them on Sunday. They're not going to enjoy coming here.
"If we can win, and we more than capable of doing that, then it is winner takes all in the final game of the season away at Billingham the following weekend."
Lomax was disappointed with the level of performance from a number of his players in the weekend's fixtures.
As a consequence he is demanding nothing less than 100 per cent effort for the forthcoming Nottingham rematch.
"I don't want to make excuses, but we had a lot on our plate on Saturday and I think many of players had one eye on the crucial league match the following night," he added.
