AN EAST Lancashire school has been branded "too modest" by impressed government inspectors.
The gentle ticking off was given to Turton and Edgworth CE Methodist Primary School in Bolton Road, Edgworth.
The 239 pupil-strong primary school was given a Grade 1, the highest mark possible, for "outstanding overall effectiveness" and praised for providing a "very high quality of education in a positive atmosphere".
The report said pupils met the high expectations placed upon them through the school's Christian ethos of character building, which developed respect for themselves and others.
And after the school received its outstanding verdict, it was told it was too shy in coming forward about the sterling work it was doing.
Her Majesty's Inspectors wrote after the December visit: "The school has an accurate view of where its strengths lie but judges itself too modestly."
Headteacher Stewart Plowes said the positive report was down to "every single" member of staff, parent and pupil.
