A bumper crowd is expected at Victory Park on Saturday when FC United visit for their North West Counties Second Division league match with Daisy Hill.

The match has been switched to Chorley from Daisy Hill for safety reasons, as FC United of Manchester as they are officially called, have regularly attracted crowds of more than 2,500 for their home matches played at Bury FC's Gigg Lane ground.

The club was set up at the start of the season by disgruntled Manchester United supporters following Malcolm Glazer's Old Trafford takeover.

They are currently riding high in the division eight points clear at the top while their opponents are third from bottom.

Chorley fans will have a chance to see former Magpies midfielder Chris Naylor, now a regular Daisy Hill first-teamer, while ex-Chorley central defender Billy McCartney is a regular member of the FC United squad, managed by Karl Marginson and assistant Phil Power, both former Victory Park favourites.

Chorley themselves will be crossing the Pennines again on Friday following last week's victory at Ossett - this time in the Chairman's Cup to face Premier Division side Frickley Athletic.

The cup is a UniBond League consolation prize, competed for by the 12 defeated clubs in the opening round of the League Cup, but it will be a handy piece of silverware for some team this season.

Chorley Reserves lost 5-3 away to Lancaster City in the Lancit Lancashire League on Saturday. The goals came from Fanny Barry, Andy Olsen and Danny Self.
