County brought to book
THE battle to save three village libraries from the chop was expected to receive another boost today (Wednesday).
Lancaster city councillors were to ask the county council to withdraw plans to shut Caton, Slyne-with-Hest and Warton libraries.
The city council is unhappy that the communities affected were not informed or consulted on the proposals.
Members are expected to tell the county council that the library service is vital' to the villages.
Hundreds of letters and messages calling on Lancashire county council to scrap its plans to close Caton library are also being sent to the county council leader Cllr Hazel Harding.
