Ossett Albion 1 Chorley 2: A goal in the final minute from Mike Bromham secured a dramatic victory for Chorley after they had been behind with just ten minutes to go.

The young defender picked up the ball just inside his own half and easily outpaced the home defence before rounding the keeper to score.

It had looked like they would leave Yorkshire without a point after a mistake by player-boss Shaun Teale gifted a goal to Ossett forward Toronczak in the 69th minute. But it was a deserved victory for the Magpies who dominated much of the game against a dour home outfit.

Despite the welcome return of skipper Jamie Vermiglio to midfield and an impressive performance from the industrious John Bluck on the wing, however, Chorley lacked guile to create many clear cut scoring chances.

Peter Wright was as busy as ever leading the line up front but had been denied on numerous occasions in the first half by the offside flag.

Neat work by Chris Thompson almost brought a goal but he shot narrowly wide. But most of the chances that came Chorley's way in the first half were the result of the home keeper's erratic kicking. Wright forced a good reaction save from one such effort and the keeper could only parry the ball into the path of Bluck but he blasted the rebound over.

The second half saw Thompson replaced by Adam Ruscoe to add some much needed height up front.

He soon had the chance to get on the scoresheet when Vermiglio showed great skill and composure to set him up on the edge of the box but his shot drifted harmlessly over the bar. After falling behind Chorley stepped up a gear and nearly equalised almost immediately when, after good interchange with Bluck, Vermiglio was denied by a good save.

Wright at last beat the offide trap to get the goal he deserved in the 77th minute when he instantly controlled a great chiped pass from Joe Gibbons on the edge of the penalty area, turned one defender and beat another before blasting the ball home for the equaliser.

Bromham's late goal proved to be the winner but only after an excellent finger tip save from Phil Preistley denied Toronczak his second goal.
