Sparks continue to set the trend for seriously odd music. Now looking like throw-backs from Rentaghost, mustachioed Ron Mael and brother Russel merge opera, classical and electronics to hilarious, but reliably great effect.
(Baby Baby) Can I Invade Your Country is a classic merge of suggestive innuendo and mockery of American foreign policy. With a sound track of staccato-strings and choral chanting, the genius chorus puts one in mind of a thigh-slapping cowboy complete with requisite length of grass to chew.
Perfume simply lists girls names and the scents they wear, where as the 7-minute long As I Sit To Play The Organ At The Notre Dame Cathedral gets a little tiresome.
It is one of about four tracks on the album that sounds like yet another remix of This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us.
Released February 6, 2006.
