INVESTIGATIONS were continuing today into a car smash in Burnley in which a woman had to be dragged from her burning vehicle.
The head-on crash happened in Red Lees Road, Cliviger, when a black Nissan Micra being driven towards Burnley by a 17-year-old collided with a red Volkswagen Polo travelling in the opposite direction.
Passers-by rescued the 23-year-old woman, from Barley, after her car went up in flames. She was taken to Burnley General Hospital with a broken arm and leg and the driver of the Micra, carrying three passengers, was also taken to hospital with a broken leg, police said.
The road was closed for over three hours following the incident, which happened on the 50mph bend just past the junction of Salterford Lane, at 9.55pm on Monday.
