TO those who never look behind. When you go for a pleasant country walk, say up to Darwen Tower, and you sit down by the path to enjoy the bright winter sunshine while refreshing yourselves with the picnic you've brought, and then go on your way leaving behind everything you don't want, cans, cartons, plastic bottles, crisp packets, tea bags and the rest does it ever occur to you to wonder what happens to it all?
Didn't think so.
Perhaps you think the council cleans up after you. Perhaps they do, I don't know. I do know that I and I'm not the only one feel it necessary to take plastic bags with me up on the moors, to pick up your rubbish and take it home to my bin. That's OK, don't mention it.
One last thought; if you can carry a full, quite heavy bag uphill, can't you carry an empty, almost weightless one downhill?
