GREAT HARWOOD business leaders are appealing for support for plans to bring a farmers' market to the town.
It is hoped that the town will be able to cash in on an industry worth £120million each year by bringing in the specialist market.
By running a regular market as an attraction to locals and tourists, Great Harwood could compete with places like Clitheroe and Hoghton, which already have such events.
Now members of the public are being invited to voice their support for such a move by contacting the Great Harwood Business Forum.
If the move is successful a farmers' market could be brought regularly to Towngate. Plans are currently in their early stages, but business forum representatives have so far met with local food producers and tourism chiefs to discuss options.
To help, e-mail Chris Smith, the Great Harwood Business Forum secretary at secretary@greatharwood.info.
