RESIDENTS in Turton will only have to walk a further 500 yards to their local post office when it relocates.
The former post office in Bolton Road was closed in December 2004 after it was made unavailable for Post Office use.
But it has been announced this week that another premises has been agreed, and the services will move to 87 Wellington Road.
A spokesman for the Post Office said: "The facilities and service that we provide to our customers is of paramount importance.
"And we are confident that our customers will benefit in the longer term by this change."
Improved services at the new branch will include an induction hearing loop for those with hearing difficulties.
There will also be, afternoon opening on Saturdays, toilet facilities suitable for those with disabilities, and retail services alongside the Post Office products.
The new branch is due to open on April 21.
