A 91-year-old woman died two weeks after a fall in her Accrington home, an inquest was told.
The opening of the inquest into the death of Mary Edmundson, of Water Street, heard she was admitted to Blackburn Royal Infirmary after fracturing her neck while moving to a chair in her home.
Coroner's officer PC Lynne Farnworth said Mrs Edmundson underwent surgery but died a short time later.
A post mortem examination was carried out and results of tests are awaited. Coroner Michael Singleton adjourned the inquest until May 8.
