PERSPEX manufacturer Lucite International UK Ltd hopes to secure its future in Darwen by investing £1million in its two sites.
The company has a base in Duckworth Street and has applied to Blackburn with Darwen Council for permission to expand its Chapels Park site, in Goose House Lane.
Plans include installing new equipment and creating a process area room.
A company spokesman said: "Lucite is making an investment of £1million to increase the production capability and productivity of its Darwen sites. The investment is targeted to come on stream in late 2006.
"This investment reflects continuing investment in Darwen, a key site for the company's acrylic sheet business.
"There will be no change in the number of employees."
Lucite, formerly known as ICI, made Darwen its main production site for perspex in the 1940s. It became Lucite International in 2002 and employs around 300 in Darwen sites.
