A LOCAL businessman and church curate is going to the ends of the earth to raise cash for a Lancaster charity.
Steven Evans, curate for the parishes of Hornby with Claughton, Gressingham, Arkholme and Whittington and a partner in Caton Road company Evans Marquee Hire, is set to make a charity trek across Tasmania.
He will jet off on February 15 to follow an old Aboriginal trail through some of the toughest walking terrain on the Australian continent.
And he will have to carry all his own equipment and food for the trek which aims to raise cash for Slyne Road charity CancerCare.
It is summer in Australia and the temperatures will be high, but because of the winds in Tasmania can drop suddenly to minus five degrees with snow at 1,000 feet.
To sponsor Steven and help CancerCare, call the group's fundraising co-ordinator Helen Hartin on 01524-381820.
