DANNY Dichio was the unlikely target of most of the transfer action prior to the window closing earlier this week.
The 31-year-old striker, who signed for Preston from Milwall for £160,000 last summer, was the subject of two approaches during the January window.
Both clubs interested were in the Championship, one understood to be a relegation-threatened outfit, the other a promotion rival.
North End have declined to disclose who the clubs interested were.
But boss Billy Davies said: "We told them we weren't interested in selling anyone.
"We were delighted to get someone of Dichio's experience on board, and we don't want to lose him."
Dichio had made 13 starts this season, but has yet to score.
However he has played a vital part in many matches at both ends of the field.
He began his career at QPR in 1993, before moving to Barnet, Sampdoria, Lecce, Sunderland, West Brom, Derby and Millwall.
