The transfer window slammed shut on Simon Grayson on Tuesday night, marking a disappointing end to a successful January.

The Blackpool boss had high hopes of tying up last minute details for a defender and a striker, but he did manage to complete a deal to bring Coventry midfielder, Neil Wood to the club permanently, despite the midfielder's imminent three match ban.

Three players left Bloomfield Road before the close of the transfer window. John Doolan completed a permanent move to Rochdale after a brief loan spell, youngster Stuart Anderson makes a loan switch to Ross County, close to his family home in the Scottish Highlands and loan winger, Lewis Gobern, goes back to Wolves.

Grayson's attention will now focus on potentially the biggest game of the season as former Seasiders boss, Gary Megson, brings his misfiring Nottingham Forest side to Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

Megson, who had a famously outspoken 12 months at Bloomfield Road in which he was punched on the pitch by a fan, broke the club's transfer record to land flop striker Chris Malkin but unearthed a gem in Brett Ormerod, is under pressure as Forest have failed to stay in touch with the leaders.
