SHOPPERS are flocking to a Burnley shop from all over the North West to get their hands on designer goods for just £1.
Bargain hunters are travelling from up to 40 miles away to pick up Gucci handbags - more common on the catwalks of Milan than the streets of East Lancashire.
And the stylish shopping frenzy is all thanks to staff at a charity shop.
Workers at Help the Aged, Yorkshire Street, Burnley, say they have doubled the amount of money they raised for charity since introducing the bargain charges of everything for £1 - from designer clothes to wedding dresses.
As word of the offer spread across the North West, people from as far afield as Southport have started visiting the shop to buy designer clothes by Morgan and other items, such as Burberry and Gucci bags - favoured by the likes of Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss.
And the clamour for clothes has become so fierce that some shoppers have even been placing orders in anticipation of goods that might arrive in stock.
Shop manager Elaine Almon, said: "It's just spread by word of mouth. People are telling their relations that visit them and they are coming over.
"People are putting orders in saying 'can you get me a king size quilt' or 'can you get me a man's dinner suit'. We can't go wrong.
"There's a man who comes in regularly and donates new stuff to me and he says 'you're a household name, you're really on the map, people are talking about this shop'."
The success has helped the store become one of the best performing Help the Aged stores in the the whole of the region.
Elaine told how the £1 offer idea was devised.
She said: "We thought we would try it out and see how people took to it so we decided everything would go for £1, regardless of what it is, and all the children's clothes would be 50 pence.
"It's like a jumble sale and we get top of the range stuff.
"I get Morgan and brand new Burberry bags. People come from Skipton, Bacup, Todmorden, Bolton. A lady comes from Southport.
"It's doubled the amounts we are getting. All the stock is being sold. Where people were spending just £3 on one item, they're now spending £15 or £16. It's absolutely brilliant."
