AT long last the saga of Whitebirk roundabout is coming to an end, after three decades of misery.
In the 1950s Blackburn Council built a power station in Rishton. In the 1970s it constructed a roundabout partly in Rishton.
This caused problems with the two councils regarding who was responsible for the white traffic markings, potholes and street lighting.
Why is the work scheduled to start next January? Why not next week? An extra 12 months of frustrated drivers, with more collisions and casualties (causing higher insurance premiums). Will the robot lights be working 24/7? If so, they will cause unnecessary delays when traffic is moderate?
