FORMER Blackburn midfielder Neil Danns is starting to attract serious attention after setting League One alight with some eye-catching performances for Colchester United.
The 23-year-old scouser, who joined United from Rovers for a nominal fee in December 2004 following an initial loan spell with the club, has scored a staggering 22 goals in 64 appearances for the U's, which has had scouts flocking to Layer Road in their droves.
Aston Villa are the latest Premiership club to be linked with a possible move for Danns, who has been in red-hot form over the last month, scoring seven goals in his last nine appearances.
And if Villa boss David O'Leary ends up making a move for the player before the transfer window slams shut next week then that could be good news for Rovers, who shrewdly negotiated a sizeable sell-on clause when they agreed to let Danns join United 13 months ago.
