A Fylde Coast schoolboy is acting up on the small screen with a starring role in a hit soap.
Sonny Flood's star is rising after the 16-year old from Cleveleys, was picked to play 'cocky. devious' teenager, Josh Ashworth, on Channel 4's Hollyoaks, last year.
The Rossall student isn't the only member of his multi-talented family to make his TV debut -- brother Beau has featured in the ITV soap, Emmerdale.
"I was delighted when Beau got his chance and he is equally pleased for my break in Hollyoaks so we support each other," said Sonny.
"He does acknowledge though that I got the better deal, because the Hollyoaks set is full of glamorous young women!"
Sonny has been developing his interest in drama since his third year at school, under the watchful eye of Poulton-based drama teacher Seren Mistry.
And he now combines studying for his GCSEs with playing a character who is going through much the same experiences.
"There's obviously a bit of me in Josh," said Sonny. "Although I don't think I'm quite as canny as he is but making that part of his character believable is what acting is all about.
"He's a great part for me to play and I hope he stays around for a while."
But, while he hopes to continue with his acting career, Sonny's next big challenge comes in the exam hall rather than the TV studio -- he faces his GCSEs in the summer.
