YOUNGSTERS with stars in their eyes are invited to take part in auditions for a talent contest.
The singing competition has been organised by Brunshaw Action Group, in Burnley, with the support of Pennine Police.
Police bosses say the aim of the competition is to direct the attention of local youths into something worthwhile, and keep them off the streets.
Janet Cowley, a community beat manager, said: "A similar contest was run by Brunshaw Action Group last year and it proved a huge success.
"From a policing point of view, we're delighted to be supporting the contest. It keeps the youths occupied, and while they are rehearsing and competing, they are having fun in a safe environment which is in all our best interests."
The 'Stars in their Eyes' contest is open to youngsters aged 11 to 17 years.
A grand finale will be held in June, with tickets on sale now priced at £3.50 and £2.50
Auditions will be held at Brunshaw Youth Centre this Saturday, from 2pm to 3pm.
