A HOUSING company has launched a drive to keep Burnley youngsters off the streets by making them feel part of the community.
Calico is funding Street Scene, a range of activities aimed at youngsters in the Accrington Road area.
The scheme, launched this week, will run until February 24, but it is hoped it will be extended.
Angela Wood, neighbourhood action team manager for Calico in South West Burnley, said: "Young people need something to do. They're part of the community, and we're only too happy to find things for them to do.
"It is also great that this coincides with Operation Hotspot and our Neighbourhood Action initiative.
"Best of all, this isn't a one-off - we're sure to be doing more in the future."
As part of the scheme, a series of creative workshops such as MC-ing, street dance, drama, and mask-making will be held.
The Neutral Space Theatre Company will be helping to put on events, and the scheme will culminate in the youngsters staging a performance.
The project is open to youngsters aged between 11 and 16.
