Richard Ashcroft, the rakish ex-Verve frontman, has just announced a major nine-date tour, and he'll be coming to Blackpool on May 9.
Billinge-born Ashcroft's comeback single Break The Night With Colour hit number three at the start of the year, while Keys To The World, his first album for new label Parlophone, has just been released.
The Verve took seven years to go from indie darlings to mainstream stars, finally breaking into the top 10 in 1997 with anthemic hits including Bitter Sweet Symphony and The Drugs Don't Work.
Ashcroft had already released two albums since the band split in 1999 - Alone With Everybody in 2000 and Human Conditions in 2002.
The gig at the Empress Ballroom will be his third show in his home county in the space of six months, following on from a sold-out show in Preston and a support slot for Coldplay at Manchester's MEN Arena.
Richard Ashcroft plays Empress Ballroom in Blackpool on Tuesday, May 9. Tickets are £20 - to book, 0871 2200 260.
