The Chairman of Kashmir Liberation Front,Yasin Malik visited the Lord Mayor of Manchester.
He was welcomed by the Mayor - Coun Afzal Khan at the town Hall and thanked the people of Manchester for their help towards the earthquake victims and also for their support for the Kashmiri people for their right of self determination.
Chairman Malik stated that "British people are number one in giving aid to the earth quake victims, and the labour Government have also been generous in giving £128 Million pounds in aid, we are truly greatful for this assistance. He thanked the Lord mayor and the people of Manchester for their part in this aid activity.
The Lord Mayor Afzal Khan welcomed Yasin Malik to Manchester and presented him with a crest of the city's coat of arms.
The Lord Mayor stated that "The people of Manchester have been at the forefront to assist the earthquake victims, I have just returned and have seen the difference that help is making to the Kashmiri people, however the need is so great that it will take years to bring back normality.
The Lord mayor also informed Mr Malik that Manchester is a city of peace, and has always supported the right of self determination for the Kashiri people and will continue to support them.
The Chairman, Yasin Malik then visited Cheetham Hill and attended a large public geathering where he encouraged the Kashmiri people to play an active part in British society.
The event was organised by the British Kashmiri Forum and their vice chair Tahir Rafiq thanked every one for making this event very successful.
