A MAN has been charged with wounding after two men were allegedly stabbed at a birthday party.
Gary Wilcox, 20, of Highercroft, was due to appear before Blackburn magistrates today following an incident at a community centre in Lawrence Street, Bank Top.
Police said that at around midnight on Friday officers were called to the centre, which is in what used to be the Cheetham Arms.
The said they found one 17-year-old boy with several stab injuries to his face and shoulder. A second man, 18, was discovered injured with a stab wound to a finger.
Police said that the men alleged they had been stabbed with a sharp pointed implement, possibly a screwdriver.
The boy and man were taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary for treatment. Both needed stitches and the 17-year-old boy was kept in overnight before being released.
Yesterday they gave statements of their version of events to detectives at Blackburn CID.
None of the people found injured were the person who the party was in aid of.
Police said the party was a private function and not connected to the centre's main role as a youth club.
