BURNLEY have dropped their controversial ticket surcharge following a recent trial.
A section of Clarets fans' had been vociferous in their opposition of the surcharge, which saw ticket prices rise by £2 pounds when purchased in the final few hours approaching kick off.
Chief executive Dave Edmundson defended the move at the annual general meeting.
However, fans' objections saw the club suspend the charge in the run-up to Christmas. And ahead of Saturday's derby with Preston, the club have now decided to abandon the policy.
Edmundson revealed: "This measure has enabled us to expand our database from 8,500 season ticket holders to around 20,000 potential supporters.
"However when we reviewed the policy, certainly over Christmas, we got a marvellous response for the Watford game and we have now listened to the fans and decided to keep things as they are."
