STUART Catterall has been appointed the new captain of Haslingden after Paul Blackledge decided to step down.
Jack Simpson, the club's Cricket manager, said: "Stuart joined us three years ago from Leyland and he captained the now defunct Lancashire Cricket Board side, so he's got pedigree.
"He's a popular lad and has a good cricketing brain so I'm sure he'll do well for us."
The Bentgate club are on the verge of announcing their new pro, as are Nelson.
Haslingden are just waiting for the contract to be returned, while Nelson captain Mike Bradley has been in negotiations with a player.
Meanwhile, league champions Lowerhouse have re-appointed skipper Joe Beneduce and vice-captain Jon Finch for next season.
