A FATHER embarked on a generous fundraising 'feet' as a thank-you to the nurses who treated his daughter's toe injury.

In August, eight-year-old Paasha Ahmed dislocated her toe after catching it on a stairwell at the family home in Beardwood.

And Nizam Patel, 36, was so impressed with the way Blackburn Royal Infirmary staff treated his daughter, he decided he should do something to boost hospital funds.

The co-owner of discount household goods shop Pound Craze in Blackburn Shopping Centre ran a £1-a-go competition giving customers the chance to win a hi-fi.

And the raffle, held throughout November and December, saw £700 raised for the children's ward which was presented to nursing staff.

Mr Patel said: "I just thought the hospital went above what you would expect. The nurses were fantastic and provided toys, video games and by the end of it my daughter had forgotten she had an injury!

"I would like to thank our customers and the managers of the shopping centre for their support, and the shop intends to make the draw an annual event."
