YEAR after year we hear the same old story about abandoned puppies. These beautiful innocent animals are bought as Christmas presents, then discarded like old rags after the novelty has worn off.
Don't they realise that a pet is for life? He or she brings endless happiness and companionship. They are very faithful and affectionate.
We all know they can cause a lot of mess as young animals, but so does anything tiny and vulnerable. After this initial stage things become easier, and then there are times to enjoy each other's company in a more relaxed way.
So come on give these 'dumb animals' a chance. The rewards could be worth their weight in gold.
I have cared for rescue dogs for over 40 years and the happy times with them are still unforgettable.
