IT was a dream debut for North End new boy Brian Stock, who ended a whirlwind 24 hours by setting up Preston's first goal.
Stock, on an emergency loan from Bournemouth but expected to move to North End for £100,000 before the transfer window closes, admitted afterwards his pre-match preparation had been less than ideal.
After flying up from the south on Friday afternoon and completing a medical at 9pm, Stock only met his team-mates 90 minutes before kick off - after having to go to the local Sainsburys cafe for a pre-match meal!
But it seemed to do the trick as he rewarded the Deepdale faithful for their welcome by setting up Patrick Agyemang in the 42nd minute.
He flicked the ball over the top to the former Gillingham striker, who ran onto it to hit his fifth goal of the season.
Within six minutes of the restart, North End defender Claude Davis ensured maximum points for North End.
He connected with Graham Alexander's corner from the right to head North End into a 2-0 lead.
North End also gave a substitute debut to their other new face, midfielder Simon Whaley who joined from Bury last week.
Boss Billy Davies said: "We are very pleased. We got a tremendous first goal and our general play was very good.
"Against a very well-organised Millwall side who made it difficult for us to break them down we had to be patient.
"We managed to push through the Brian Stock loan deal in time and his performance here was first class."
