A motorcyclist died after his bike hit signs at the side of the road in Chorley last Thursday night.
David Spiby, 51, of Preston Road, Whittle-le-Woods, died at the scene, at the junction of Park Road and Corporation Street.
Police said there were no other vehicles involved in the crash, which happened shortly after 11pm.
They believe Mr Spiby came off his bike after attempting to make a left turn on the bend of Park Road. He hit road signs and lost control of his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Mr Spiby worked as a driver for a transport company in Leyland.
Graham Stringfellow, who runs The Queens pub in Chapel Street with his partner Ann Kimberley, paid tribute to Mr Spiby, who was a regular customer.
He said: "He was someone who, when he came in, everyone would get a buzz from. I thought of him as a highly intelligent man who would chat and tell stories to everyone.
"He had travelled all around Europe on his bike and had spent time in Portugal. He rolled up at the pub a few of weeks ago on his bike dressed as Santa and I talked to him about being the Easter Bunny.
"My partner Ann is devastated. Whenever he would come in she would give him a cuddle. He was that kind of fellow."
