JANUARY is the traditional time of year for making resolutions. If any reader is considering voluntary work as a New Year resolution, may I invite them to consider volunteering the WRVS.
WRVS is very active locally, our friendly and caring volunteers make a real difference in the community, whether it be delivering a hot lunch time meal to the elderly and isolated, helping with their shopping, delivering library books to the housebound or making refreshments in the hospital coffee bar.
If you can spare a couple of hours once a week, or fortnight and would like to know what interesting and rewarding volunteering opportunities there are in your community, please contact 0845 601 4670 or log on to www.wrvs.org.uk calls are charged at local rate. Twenty per cent of WRVS volunteers are men, all expenses are paid and there is full training.
On behalf of WRVS, a very happy and healthy New Year to all our dedicated volunteers and we look forward to welcoming new members in 2006.
KAREN MOLYNEUX, People Support Manager, WRVS, Orchard Mill Drive, Croston.
