FIVE London firms and one from Glasgow have been short-listed as the people most likely to rejuvenate Morecambe's Central Promenade area.
The six have been selected by site owners Urban Splash as the finalists from 102 entries for an architecture competition to revitalise the 10-acre site next to the Midland Hotel.
Competition chair Sarah Wrigglesworth, of the Royal Institute of British Architects, says: "These schemes represent the cream of the various proposals and show the broad spectrum of thinking in addressing the regeneration potential for the site.
"All six teams are relatively unknown and there are no superstars this in itself is interesting and refreshing and demonstrates why it is important for competitions to be anonymous."
Bill Maynard, director of development for Urban Splash adds: "We have been overwhelmed by the interest in this fantastic site... we see this as an important step forward in the renaissance of Morecambe."
The finalists are ADF Architecture & Design of Glasgow and London firms Idom UK Ltd, Rogerson Keusgen King, FLACQ, Darling Associates and DLA Architecture Ltd.
All will be invited for interview with judges before a winner is named in February.
