POLICE were today appealing for witnesses after an armed robber raided a Chorley post office.
The incident occurred at around 9am yesterday when a man entered the post office in Devonshire Road and brandished what was described as a silver hand-gun and demanded money. The man then made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect has been described as around 5ft 4ins, with a stocky build, wearing a black woollen bobble hat pulled down over his eyebrows and a black scarf, which was covering his nose. He was also wearing a blue or black heavy jacket and black pants.
Police are also keen to speak to the driver of what has been described as an old style blue mini, which was seen in the area at the time of the incident.
After the robbery the office remained closed for the morning. Police sealed of an alley to the rear and conducted door-to-door interviews in the Devonshire Road and Trinity Road areas.
