Chorley Harriers celebrated their 20th Anniversary in 2005 with another year of achievement.

Great Britain International Vicky Gill pointed the way with victory in the AAAs 5K Road Race Championship at nearby Horwich, and there was a first AAAs medal for under 17 Alison Leonard.

The road racing squad also had a brilliant year as they lifted the Inter Club Grand Prix. The attendance at the club's Annual Christmas Dinner and Awards Evening reflected the mood with the function room at the Ley Inn full to capacity.

Husband and wife team Dominic and Nicola Raby will now be known as the King & Queen of the Fells after they won the Fell Grand Prix, while the cross country winners were Mark Ellithorn and Janet Chaplin.

There had been a terrific turnout throughout the year for the Road Grand Prix, especially with victory in the Inter Club Grand Prix Trophy in prospect, and the overall winners were Keith Johnson and Nicola Raby. The Committee Cup was awarded to Daryl Peter for her work on Club Mark.

The Outstanding Performances of the Year were by Lisa Johnston and Dominic Raby and the Most Improved Athletes were Gary Platt and Cherry Collison.

The following day saw Chorley Harriers don fancy dress and run round Astley Park raising £100 for Derrian House Children's Hospice.
