Blackburn Hawks have a clear goal in mind as they resume action after the festive break - carry on winning!

Hawks will be looking to continue last year's impressive form as they go into their first games of 2006 hoping for a cup double.

The ice hockey aces travel up to Paisley Pirates tonight for a Northern Crossover Cup fixture before facing Kingston Jets in the English Cup back at the Arena (face-off 6pm) tomorrow.

"The lads have had a couple of weeks off so hopefully they will come back bright-eyed and bushy-tailed," said assistant manager Graham Lomax.

"We did well last year so now everyone needs to stay focused and keep to the task in hand.

"We had a training session on Thursday and everyone appears to be fine.

"There is less than half the season to go now so we need to give a big push.

"There are a couple of competitions - the English Cup a classic case in point - that we feel we are more than capable of winning.

"We need to take each game as it comes and get everyone motivated for every game.

"Paisley are a fit, young side. They are a team I know week and they don't appear to lose many games.

Their back-line is particularly strong and they only lose by the odd goal, if in fact they lose at all.

"Kingston are a team we will be looking to beat.

"The English Cup has been high up in our priorities since the start of the season so we want to do as well as possible."
