Magpies player-boss Shaun Teale is hoping top scorer Peter Wright will be back for Saturday's league encounter with bottom club Bishop Auckland.

Wright is battling to be fit for the match at Victory Park after badly gashing his foot in an accident at home on Friday.

Shaun Teale said: "Peter is prone to sleepwalking and it seems that he tried to climb out of a window and cut his foot and had to have hospital treatment.

"It was a new one on me - in fact, the lads had a joke about what a player would do to get out of training!"

Chorley have already gained sweet revenge after an FA Cup defeat by Bishop Auckland which followed a disputed penalty by crushing the north easterners 4-1 at their temporary home of Spennymoor in October. And the Magpies have the chance to make it taste even better when they come to Victory Park. But Teale has warned his players about complacency against a side who have struggled since being forced to sell players.

Football is littered with banana-skin fixtures, with countless struggling teams snatching a result after going out with nothing to lose.

He said: "Bishop Auckland have got rid of a lot of players and have had to put youngsters in the side, which is why they are losing matches, but we still have to go out and beat them.

"We can't take anything for granted."

With only one caution in four matches, Chorley were second in the UniBond League First Division Fair Play awards for December, pipped only by Colwyn Bay.

Chorley are joint third with Shepshed Dynamo in the current season's placings, behind Belper Town and Colwyn Bay, who lead the table.

Chorley are among only four clubs who have averaged fewer than one booking per game.
