It's now official, Chorley is part of the route for cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats. This is good new for the traders as it brings money into the town.
A recent survey carried out by Peak District National Park found that those cycling while on holiday in the park spent an average of £25 per person per day.
The average spend of a car-borne (or other) day visitor was just £7.30 a day. This is because cyclists have to shop locally, whereas drivers can buy in a lot of their provisions etc and store them in the car.
Even better news on the horizon is Route 55, the Sustains National Cycle Route; this is due to be completed soon.
