A BURNLEY man has appeared in court in connection with an assault which left another man fighting for his life.
Jeffrey Bonney, 31, appeared before the town's magistrates yesterday, charged with wounding with intent.
Bonney, of Glebe Street, is accused of assaulting John Boslem in the early hours of New Year's Day.
Mr Boslem, 39, suffered head injuries, three broken ribs, and a punctured lung in an alleged incident near the youth club, in Glebe Street.
Mr Boslem underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain.
Today police said he was still "poorly" in Hope Hospital, Salford.
Bonney was granted bail by magistrates on condition he lives at the Howarth Hotel, St Peter's Street, Blackburn, does not contact Mr Boslem, and does not enter Burnley except to attend court.
