Blackburn Harriers track and field team has just finished one of its most successful seasons.
Their youngsters celebrated promotion to the Premier Northern Division in the Young Athletes League while the seniors can reflect on third place in the Northern Senior League Knock Out Cup, and first place in Division 2 of the Northern League followed by fourth place in the promotion play-off final.
Former 400m Great Britain International Malcolm Yardley, who appeared in the 1960 Rome Olympics, was the guest of honour at the club's presentation evening as the successful athletes were honoured.
The senior women were named as team of the year after they were first in the Northern and second in the AAAs at the five kilometre Road Race Championships.
Pauline Powell became the Northern Cross Country Champion and broke six club records as Sarah Henton bettered four throwing records and finished the year eighth in the senior discus rankings.
Pauline shares the Senior Athlete of the Year award with Northern 10,000 metre Champion Ben Fish while Chris Hart was the Track Athlete of the Year after the steeple-chaser represented Great Britain at the European Junior Championships..
