HYNDBURN is the best in the North West for recycling.
Statistics released by the GMB, Britain's general union, show that 13.8 per cent of the total tonnage of household waste was recycled throughout 2003/04.
That puts Hyndburn top of the league in the North West and joint 138th in England.
Blackburn with Darwen and Ribble Valley recycles 12.6 per cent. Pendle 11.4 per cent and Rossendale 11.2 per cent.
But Burnley (9.7 per cent) and South Ribble (9.1 per cent) fall further down the list."
