Colin Hendry's reign as Blackpool manager is officially over. In one of the least surprising developments from Bloomfield Road for some time, the club released a statement on their official website on Tuesday, to say that the former Scotland international star had left the club.
Club chairman Karl Oyston said: "I would like to thank Colin for all his hard work over the last 16 months. I am sure he has taken many positives from his time with the club and I am sure he won't be out of the game too long."
Hendry himself is quoted as sayng: "It has been a great learning curve and I would like to thank Blackpool FC for the opportunity it has given me. It certainly has whetted my appetite for management and I would lilke to wish the players and supporters every success in the future."
The statement added that neither the club nor Hendry would be making any further comment on the matter.
First team coach Ian Miller has also left the club.
The former Blackburn Rovers winger and Academy coach was brought to Bloomfield Road shortly after Colin Hendry was appointed as manager in June 2004.
Now the question being asked by supporters is who will be given the task of helping the club pull clear of the Division One relegation zone?
As The Citizen went to press no announcement had been made by the club over the future of caretaker boss Simon Grayson who saw the Seasiders take a point in a 1-1 draw away to Chesterfield on Saturday.
Gary Harkins struck in the second half to earn a valuable point which leaves Blackpool hovering above the drop zone in Division One.
But what will have pleased Grayson and may have helped his cause to take the managerial hot seat on a permanent basis was the spirited display his team showed away from home.
With the club without a game until Tuesday night when they entertain Bournemouth, Grayson will continue to take temporary charge.
