I do not agree with the council's plans to remove trees close to Astley Hall and the adjoining lake as part of its plans to regenerate Astley Park.
The trees have been in the park for over 50 years and have become a feature of the landscape that is modern day Astley Park.
It worries me that someone has a 'great idea' that the park should be restored to an image which they 'believe' existed in a bygone age.
We are living in the 21st century after all.
Equally disturbing is the fact that council officials are going ahead with their plans to regenerate the park without proper consultation with the residents of Chorley and people who use the facilities.
It is proving very difficult for me to obtain details of their proposals and I can find no evidence of such plans having been displayed in the library as promised.
I do welcome the award of the £2.5m Heritage Lottery Fund Grant to bring about much needed improvements within the park but I do not want this money to be wasted.
