AN EAST Lancashire charity is offering people the chance to adopt a reindeer for Christmas.
Lords House Farm, in Rishton, has two reindeers, called Thunder and Lightning, who are being offered for adoption for a year.
Mary Walker, who runs the animal centre, said the reindeers, which came to the farm from Blackpool Zoo, are friendly and easy to handle.
She said: "They are smaller than most people think they are and will eat out of your hand."
Anyone adopting one of them will receive a photograph, a certificate of adoption and a special letter from their chosen reindeer telling them all about where they live and their friends at Lords House Farm.
People will be able to meet Thunder and Lightning if they visit Santa who will be in his grotto on the three Fridays before Christmas, December 9, 16 and 23.
Lords House Farm is also offering festive llama treks through the woodlands around Rivington throughout November and December.
Trekkers will enjoy a bracing walk with friendly llamas carrying their hot toddy picnic, which includes mince pies and mulled wine.
Adopting a reindeer costs £15 for a year and the cost of the treks is £20 for adults and £10 for children aged five to 12.
