Kind-hearted runners have raised a whopping £10,000 for Christie's Hospital in memory of Pauline Lucketti.
Pauline, mother of Preston North End captain Chris, from Rochdale died of cancer in March, and lifelong friend Andy O'Sullivan immediately stepped forward to organise a race in her honour.
Many of Pauline's friends collected sponsorship for the run, and the coffers were swelled even more by an auction including signed football shirts.
Chris was at a special presentation evening convened recently to hand the cheque to Christie's. He started his career at Rochdale where was the protege of former Burnley player Jimmy Robson.
Sadly, Jimmy lost his wife to cancer a few weeks ago and as she had been treated at Christie's it was fitting that he was there to take part in the ceremonies.
He presented an award to Chris for his outstanding contribution to football. Robson also received an award for his own contribution to the game of football.
He is something of a legend in Burnley since he scored their goal in the 1962 FA Cup Final against Spurs.
