Akbar Khans epic love story finally hits our screens this month and is rumoured to be the most expensive film ever to be made in Bollywood.
The familiar tale is played to a backdrop of stunning sets, costumes and scenary much like the epics of old.
Sonya Jehan, grand-daughter of the legendary singer-actress Noor Jehan plays the leading lady Mumtaz Mahal whos beauty and charm is said to have inspired Prince Khurram (Zulfikar Syed) to build the spectacular Taj Mahal.
The film boasts a good supporting cast including Kabir Bedi who plays the aged Shah Jehan and Manisha Koirala as Jehan Ara, daughter to Shah Jehan.
Arbaaz Khan is in the role of Aurangzeb, the ruthless usurper who murders his own brothers and imprisons his father in his lust and hunger for power.
Pooja Batra is excellent as Noor Jehan, the shrewd and ambitious Empress and Kim Sharma is her spoilt daughter who tries to seduce Prince Khurram in order to become the next Mughal Empress.
